Michael Traurig, son of renowned
hunter/jumper trainers
Bernie Traurig and Tiffany
Teeter, is now accepting horses and clients in the
Aiken area.
20 years as a steeplechase jockey and in the
hunter/jumper arena has provided Michael with a
diverse background in the equine sport. Following
high school and the tutelage of his father, Michael
trained in Germany with Yo Hinneman, learning the
basics of classical dressage. Then he was on to
Holland, where Michael improved his jumping skills
by working for a large hunter/ jumper sales facility.

Upon returning to the states, he trained with such
luminaries as hunter/jumper trainers Vince Dugan,
Margie Goldstein, and George Morris.  In addition
to his hunter/ jumper pursuits, he was assistant
trainer to Mr. Jonathan Sheppard at his Camden
steeplechase training facility.  Since arriving in
Aiken, Michael has shown successfully on both the
hunter/jumper circuit, as well as in the eventing
world, while still maintaining his steeplechase
career. He is currently training with Frank Chapot
and showing his 4-year old stallion in preparation
for the 5-year old jumper test. Michael is accepting
students of all levels and ages, and is available for
clinics at our farm or yours. Also accepting horses in
training, from starting young horses to the Grand
Prix jumper.
